Dancing Roots Farm
Dancing Roots is on 10 beautiful acres above the Sandy River, adjacent to Dabney State Park. In addition to their fields, Dancing Roots has a few acres of woods, tons of blackberries, and lots of refuge for songbirds and wildlife.
Husband and wife team, Shari Sirkin and Bryan Dickerson bought the farm in the fall of 2002 and immediately began tending to the fields that sat fallow for over 30 years. Their plans call for creating an ecologically sound and productive working farm including orchards, year-round produce, educational programs, a composting facility, and farm animals such as pigs, chickens, goats, ducks and bees!
Dancing Roots uses only ecologically sound practices, such as crop rotations, natural amendments, cover crops, drip irrigation and they never use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. The farm offers high quality, fresh produce for a number of local restaurants as well as individuals and households through their CSA program.

Gaining Ground Farm
Amidst the vineyards of Yamhill County, Mike and Jill Paine farm ten acres on a beautiful hillside in Newberg. The core of their business is selling directly to consumers through their CSA and participation in the Portland Farmer's Market. Mike's passion for farming extends beyond great tasting vegetables to the role that farms play in the greater economics and politics of food and agriculture. The Paine's commitment to supporting their community is demonstrated clearly with their "Feed-a-Family Program" which ensures that healthy, fresh, local produce is available to families of all income levels. Their goal is to have 10% of their annual CSA shares dedicated to this program.

Jacob-Hart Vineyard
Located on a southeast facing slope of the Chehalem Ridge, the Jacob-Hart Vineyard is the jewel in Rex Hill’s crown. In a past life the land was home to a turkey farm, but the site found new purpose in 1988 as an ideal place to grow Pinot Noir.
Walking the site, one can see Jory clay loam over fractured basalt, and just ten yards away the Jory soil covers rounded basalt, which tends to work itself up to the surface. In some areas, the soil appears to be rocky, but once the vines punch through rock they are quite happy to discover that the soil is actually several feet deep. In other areas, the vines grow in what appears to be Jory clay loam, but is actually just a few inches of friable soil. Due to the warm exposures of the site, harvest often occurs a week earlier at Jacob-Hart than other Rex Hill Pinot Noir sites. Fruit from the vineyard serves as the backbone of Rex Hill’s Reserve Pinot Noir, and the rockier portions of the vineyard produce exceptional deep-rooted vines which perennially bear fruit worthy of the winery’s exclusive single vineyard bottling program.
The planting of the vineyard is a two decade project, the most recent plantings having taken place this spring. Jacob-Hart has been LIVE and Salmon Safe certified for many years, but now the vineyard management crew has taken the ecology of the site to a new level, implementing Biodynamic farming treatments and practices.

The Three Sisters Vineyard
The Eyrie Vineyards purchased The Three Sisters Vineyard in the late 1980's. The slope, soils and elevation of the site, made the location ideal for growing grapes. Most of the vines were planted in 1988 and 1989 (some additional small blocks have been planted more recently) and today the vineyard provides 25% of the Eyrie Vineyards estate grown Pinot noir, 40% of their Pinot gris, and 100% of their Pinot blanc. Together these grapes are the three Pinot Sisters - thus the name of the vineyard.
At one time the acreage had been planted to a mixture of walnuts and filberts (hazelnuts). The 20 acres of hazelnuts that remain on the property represent one of the oldest plantations in the area, with some trees dating from the 1930's. Today, the grapes have replaced the walnuts, but the hazelnuts are still standing and continue to produce. The site represents the agricultural history of Oregon; one can even see the old walnut drying barn (now on a neighbor's property).
The harmonious landscape of 15 acres of grapes, 20 acres of hazelnuts, and 15 acres of grassland, overlooks the beautiful rolling slopes, orchards, and vineyards of the Willamette Valley.
The Three Sisters Vineyard is located in Dundee, Oregon and is owned and operated by the Eyrie Vineyards.
